The Helford River

Deep sheltered valleys covered in ancient oak woodland, lead down to hidden creeks, centuries old villages, and famous Cornish gardens, such as Trebah and Glendurgan, both on the north shore of the Helford,  full of sub-tropical plants, tree ferns originally from New Zealand, rhododendrons and azaleas.

We can go ashore on the north bank of the river to visit some of the gardens and check out the Ferryboat Inn (now under new ownership), or we can go to the South Shore for fabulous views and walks with a visit to the famous Shipwright's Arms!

During the trip across Falmouth Bay to reach the Helford River, there is a good chance to spot dolphins, many seabirds, some seals and at certain times of the year, Basking Sharks!
